5 Tips for Organizing a Successful Party at Home
The keywords are: organization and planning. We know this is a boring step for many people, however with the checklist we created to make the whole process easier for you, everything becomes simpler. Keep in mind that planning your Party at Home is essential to avoid wasting time and money.
Most of our clients come to us for children's party decorations, so we will use that reason for celebration – a child's birthday – to guide you in the considerations to take when organizing a Party at Home.
Decide the day and time
We are talking about children, so it is very important to take into account the choice of day and time to manage, for example, sleeping and napping habits. Depending on the age, it is necessary to take into account a birthday child who is grumpy because he didn't sleep in the afternoon or who complains the next morning when he wakes up because he went to bed late. These moods can “boycott” the joy of the party and instead of having a picture of someone singing happy birthday, perfect to frame, perhaps it will be a record of a tantrum because of the broken routine.
Parents are the ones who know their children best and the way they will react, so they must choose the time and day of the party carefully to meet the expectations of the birthday child - because he is the most important person at the party and he is the one who has to be well- willing.
Set a budget
Sometimes, depending on the time of the year and the expenses that exist, there are birthday parties that pile up with bills to pay: the approach of Christmas, the vacation budget... But that's no reason to give up celebrating your little ones' birthdays. This is where organization and planning make even more sense and, by anticipating this stage, you can better manage expenses and perhaps even save money. There are, for example, food and drinks that can be purchased well in advance and, therefore, the ideal is to take advantage of existing promotions. You certainly already know that it is in last minute purchases, in pressure and in desperation, that we tend to spend more money. So, if you want to save, define the menu and the list of ingredients and drinks you want to buy and pay attention to promotions.
Decide who to invite
Well…this is usually a difficult stage and is directly linked to, and dependent on, the budget and the location where the party is taking place. First you need to decide how much you can and want to spend and where you are going to do the party and then adapt the guest list. If it's just a party for the closest family members, if you can include other more distant family members, if the school friends will go too, etc.
Once you determine how many people “fit” in your wallet and in your home, you must decide how you are going to invite them . There are many options these days: whether to make printed or digital invitations send an email, call, send a message. The possibilities are immense, don't forget that when you do this you must give the person all the necessary details so that, on the day of the party, you are not inundated with phone calls asking for directions.
The most important thing is: the place, the day and the time. You can then include information about age, a contact number and even GPS coordinates to make it easier for the guest to find the address. Instructions on dress code may also be useful (for example, in the case of children, it could be taking a bathing suit if there is a swimming pool, non-slip socks if going barefoot) and, of course, a contact number for any other necessary clarification.
Decide on the theme and decor
This stage is the Part at Home "forte". It's not a simple process at all, but it's clear that we exist to help you decorate happy days and make this step easier, faster, and most importantly economical. In other words, the difficult part will be being able to choose the theme. We can only wish you 'good luck' so that, among all the cartoons your child likes to watch, he finds his favorite character, the superhero that makes him go crazy, an animal that enchants him. After deciding on the theme and choosing the products you want to customize, leave the rest of the work to us.
Decide what will be served
Whether you are preparing to serve lunch, a snack or dinner, this is also a central concern because as a hostess you don't want, on one hand, to leave anyone hungry and, on the other, to spend the week eating leftovers or wasting food that spoils and have to go in the trash.
You can start by taking into consideration some type of dietary restriction or diet, such as veganism, for example.
If the party is just for children, this step becomes simple because the kids are more interested in playing than eating. They are satisfied with soooo many fries, juices and coke. Of course, the ideal is to try to balance these “blunders” with some fruit skewers and some cheese and ham sandwiches. The birthday cake to “sweeten the mood” and some other sweets and tasty cookies make the party.
But if the party “involves” adults, things become more complicated. For main meals, it is true that it is difficult to choose a hot dish that is consensual, even though the masses seem to be able to fulfill this requirement. You can choose to reinforce the starters or even have a soup to “line” the stomachs of the pickiest until it’s time to “attack” the desserts. When it comes to snacks, it’s best to diversify the menu to try to please “the Greeks and the Trojans” and keep everyone satisfied. Snacks are more work, it's true, but it makes it easier to please the majority.
But an important note is that whatever menu you design to serve, try to stick to simplicity and avoid options that involve complex cooking processes so that you don't end up stuck in the kitchen all the time. Once again the importance of planning everything is demonstrated and helps you choose great appetizers to serve that require less work.
It's very important that the party hosts also have fun and, let's face it, they won't be able to do this in an apron and in front of the stove. 😀
